Most common treatment used for tattoo removal is Laser treatment. Lasers react with the ink in the tattoo and breaks it down which gets cleared by its own.

Type of Ink used: Tattoo removals also depend upon the colors used while creating the tattoo. It may take long to remove if colors like blue and green are used. Black tattoos are removed easiest with lasers as black absorbs laser’s wavelength. The type of ink used in tattoo will also decide the time for tattoo removal. India ink pen, ink and pigments made from chemicals, metals are designed to be permanent. There are two layers of skin, if the tattoo is deep in both the layers of skin it will take longer to remove.

Size of design: Size of the tattoo all plays a very important role to decide the time and sessions require for tattoo removal. For larger tattoos sometimes skin grafts are also used along with laser treatment.

Six parameters Skin type, location, color, type of ink, scarring or tissue change are added to yield a combined score to know the number of sessions required for tattoo removal.

Depending on the tattoo it may require multiple sessions of laser and would cost approximately $1000 to $3000/session.

After tattoo removal a mild rash & warmth is the most common effect on the skin. However, these red spots fade completely and do not scar in few days.
